JACK BANKS
In my works using the medium of photography I explore Places, objects, beings and their relationship with one another and their surroundings.
Most of my works document the phenomena of everyday life in an unfamiliar space.
Charles Baudelaire defined the word flâneur as ‘a person who walks the city in order to experience it’. Susan Sontag in her essay, On Photography, describes how, since the development of hand-held cameras in the early 20th century, the camera has become the tool of the flâneur.
